Leonard Bernstein
Leonard Bernstein is the greatest American classical musician. His work with the New York Philharmonic and many other musical ensembles established a standard and precedent for the interpretation, conducting, and performance of music. Recordings of his ensembles have become a guide for others to model their work after. He also has composed many works in multiple genres, including opera, orchestra, musicals, and more. One of his most well known works is the score to West Side Story. Bernstein was also interested in music education, and he was the first conductor to give a series of television lectures on classical music.
